Advanced Adventurer

Take The Next Step And Become An Advanced Diver

SSI’s Advanced Adventurer program was created so you can try out a variety of specialty courses before you commit to completing a full course. It’s a great way to experience what advanced training is all about and how valuable it can be to your diving adventures.

During the Advanced Adventurer program you will have the chance to try out 5 different specialties. You will complete one open water training dive per specialty and if you decide to take a full course in any of the specialties you tried, the dive you took can be applied to your advanced certification.

The Advanced Adventurer program (not to be confused with the Advanced Open Water Diver rating) has been designed to provide Open Water Divers an introduction into 5 different SSI Specialty Programs under the direct supervision of an active SSI Instructor. The course is simply made up of five dives; you must do a deep dive, but after that you can choose any other 4 to get a little taste of what training you might like to take moving ahead. You may choose from different specialities: NAVIGATION, NIGHT, NITROX, PERFECT BUOYANCY, PHOTOGRAPHY, WAVES, TIDES AND CURRENTS, SEARCH AND RECOVERY, AND WRECK DIVING.

At the end of the course you will be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 30m (if chosen the deep dive) and will feel capable of conducting your own dives safely and comfortably.

Enriched Air Nitrox

Extend your no decompression time by using Nitrox. Get more out of your dives. The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver Course teaches you how to dive using Nitrox. Nitrox is simply air with more oxygen in it. More oxygen means less nitrogen which is the gas that limits your dive time. Divers use Nitrox either to extend their no decompression time over a normal air dive or they use it to add conservatism into their dive plan. Many divers say that using Nitrox leaves them less tired than when they dive with air. This course will teach you how to select the best mix for your dive, how to plan and execute your dives using Nitrox. It will teach you the safety concerns you need to know to use Nitrox and how increased oxygen affects the dive and the diver.

Theory only – this course is a non-diving course, however most divers choose to take Nitrox out for at least one dive during their stay. A tank of Nitrox is simply an additional cost to your dive. Most divers choose to take this course in combination with other specialities. In this case, we offer the diver 2 tanks of Nitrox to use on their other speciality dives at no extra cost.
